Americans for the Arts
Americans for the Arts faced an unusual challenge. As the recipients of a highly publicized, long-term major gift from Ruth Lilly, the public perception of the organization was that it had sufficient resources. Yet, the organization’s fund raising was not performing as needed for the Lilly gift to take Americans for the Arts to the next level of organizational impact and effectiveness. As a separate organizational planning process was moving forward, WolfBrown consultants performed a development assessment, working closely with staff and consulting widely with board members, funders, and friends of the organization. Specific recommendations about strategy, staffing, and needed investments were made and implemented in conjunction with the organization’s new strategic plan.
