Turtle Bay Exploration Park
Shortly after the opening of the museum complex in June 2002, WolfBrown was hired to provide assistance to Turtle Bay in analyzing financial activities, developing realistic budgets, and strengthening systems for financial analysis and reporting. WolfBrown consultants also assisted Turtle Bay in developing a three-year operating plan that included financial scenarios leading to a viable business operation. This review was required to assist the museum in adjusting to the realities of their new complex. The work included retreats with board and staff, ongoing consulting assistance in areas of financial management, regular meetings with a Planning Committee to review findings and recommendations, interviews, and surveys. The resulting plan focused on mission, program priorities, governance, and strengthening earned and contributed revenues streams. The resulting business plan helped Turtle Bay prioritize programs so as to make tough budget cuts required to achieve a more viable operating scenario. Funding for this project was provided by the McConnell Foundation.
